My first night in Jakarta I chose the Hotel Marcopolo from lonely planet – it was their top pick in the 2007 edition. I found the hotel just as they described it except the price was a bit higher – Rp. 405,000 net, a good price for a hotel near the heart of the business district.
The room was a bit worn and dated, but very clean.
The air conditioner worked very well.
There is a nice pool, in a garden setting.
The restaurant serves an excellent breakfast buffet for Rp.48,000 – non-smokers will like the smoke free environment.
The night I was there it was fully booked – it seems to be popular with families.
The only annoyance is the laundry guy who comes knocking at 8:00 a.m. to ask if you have laundry – - be sure to put out the “do not disturbe” sign.
Overall, Hotel Marcopolo is a good deal for a mid-range hotel in Jakarta.
